Arsenal could lose chance to secure signature of Serie A star on cheap

The Serie A outfit Sampdoria will look to increase the buy-out (release) clause of reported Arsenal target Belgian midfielder Dennis Praet, according to the Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Football-Italia.net).

At the end of July, football news Italian website Calciomercato.com said that the Gunners were interested in landing the Belgian midfielder, in addition to his one-time teammate Lucas Torreira.
However, the Gunners did not bid for Praet before the close of the summer transfer window, in spite of the player having a €26 million (£23.2 million) release clause.

It now looks Sampdoria want to offer a contract extension to the 24-year-old star, and increase his buyout fee in the process, with the creative midfielder now attracting the interest of Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan and Napoli.
Dennis has been sidelined with a knee injury for a few weeks and has only played once thus far this season. He started the 1-0 victory against Viterbese in the Coppa Italia back in mid-August.

The previous season, he was ever-present alongside Arsenal new signing Lucas Torreira in the heart of Sampdoria’s midfield, making 35 league appearances.
