United hero Dimitar Berbatov reveals how Man City tried to sign him

Berbatov to Manchester United

Berbatov moved to Tottenham in July of 2006 from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee in the region of £14 million.

The Bulgarian went on to play 102 games for Spurs, in which he scored 46 and assisted 24.
This attracted the attention of Manchester United who would sign Berbatov in 2008 for a fee of around £34 million.

Berbatov went on to play 149 games for United, in which he scored 56 and assisted 27.
However, Berbatov has recently revealed that United’s cross-town rivals Manchester City were also interested in signing him.
Speaking to FourFourTwo Berbatov stated,

“I think it was the night before City signed Robinho from Real Madrid and my agent said, ‘Berba, there’s another team in for you’.

“I said, ‘F*ck off, we’re going to Man United’. He said, ‘But they’ll give you more money!’”
While Berbatov chose United over City with relative ease in 2008, it does beg the question, who would the Bulgarian choose out of the two sides today?

Berbatov’s supportive message for Manchester United

Manchester United had a rocky start to the 2018/19 Premier League season.

United would pick up a 2-1 win over Leicester City in the opening game of the season.
But United would somehow lose 3-2 to Brighton in their second game of the season.
However, Berbatov who is clearly still a Red sent United a support message via Instagram after their embarrassing defeat to Brighton.

Since losing to Brighton United have lost 3-0 to Spurs and beaten Burnley 2-0 this past Sunday.
