Why Alexis Sanchez missed Manchester United v Brighton game

Manchester United have responded to the query on why Alexis Sanchez was absent in the game against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

Former Arsenal forward Sanchez was missing in the line up against Brighton. In Mourinho’s pre match press conference, it was not mentioned that the Chilean will play no part in the game.
Sanchez was present in all the preseason matches given that there was no World Cup exhaustion since his country did not quality for the tournament in Russia.

He featured for the full 90 minutes in the opening match of the season against Leicester where the team won by 2-0.

It was revealed on Friday that he had an injury which kept him out the side that lost to Brighton. A club gradually becoming Manchester United Achilles heels.

‘Alexis was going to play but he had a little problem, so we had to decide to give an opportunity to another attacking player,’ said the United manager.

On account of his absence, three changes was made to the selection that defeated Leicester City. Martial who was fined two weeks wages replaced the injured Sanchez. Lukaku’s return informed Rashford returning to the beach and departing Darmian was replaced with Ashley Young.

The changes could not muster the desired win for the Old Trafford side. The team was down 3-1 by first halftime. Although the game ended 3-2 in Brighton’s favour.
