Chelsea eager to seal permanent transfer of star player before August 31

Chelsea Italian manager Maurizio Sarri is willing to let Danny Drinkwater depart on a permanent basis. It is obvious that the English man is surplus to requirement given that the midfield position is well stocked with players supposedly better.

Drinkwater was signed as a midfield enforcer, a role somewhat similar to what he did in helping Leicester win the league but his niggling injuries have hampered the influence he once had and he is now a transfer target for any interested club.

The 28-year-old Englishman is obviously does not interest the 59-year-old Italian manager’s plans. He has not been used in the matches played and won in the league so far. He only made a 30 minute appearance against Manchester City and which they lost.
Maurizio Sarri obviously favours Kante, Barkeley, Jorginho and loan boy Kovacic in that three midfield combination. With Loftus-Cheek also in the mix, so going out on loan or permanent transfer should be explored by Drinkwater.

Chelsea will be willing to do business with any club capable of paying close to the huge fee with which the midfielder was signed from Leicester.

The Blues are up against Newcastle United after shoving aside Arsenal and Huddersfield so far and in the process collected six points from six. Playing Newcastle is always a tricky affair as they were mauled last season by the St. James Park owners.
