Jose Mourinho overtakes Claude Puel in the sack race

Manchester United & Leicester City

A little over a week ago, the Mirror reported that Claude Puel only had two matches to save his job at Leicester City.

That report came out after Leicester lost their opening Premier League fixture at Old Trafford.
Yet week two of the new season saw mirror results for Man United and the Foxes.

Jose Mourinho’s men lost 3-2 at Brighton as the cracks in the Man United squad were opened up.
As for Leicester, they beat Wolves 2-0 on Saturday for their first win of the year.

Sack race: Jose Mourinho & Claude Paul

The bookies have reacted to the latest Premier League results by adjusting their odds in the sack race.
Jose Mourinho is the new favourite with Ladbrokes in the Premier League sack race.
The Man United boss suffered embarrassment on Sunday against the Seagulls, and that’s forced bookies to slash odds to 7/2 on the Portuguese manager being the first top-flight manager to leave his post this season.

It’s now just an 8/11 shot (from 6/5 last week) that Mourinho is sacked or leaves his current job before Christmas.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “There are already so many questions surrounding Man United and Mourinho, and it looks as though the Portuguese boss will suffer from third season syndrome once again and leave his post in the coming weeks – or faced being axed.”
