Positive injury update for Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne

Kevin De Bruyne’s injury

Kevin De Bruyne did not start Manchester City’s opening game of the season vs Arsenal as he was still recovering from the World Cup with Belgium.

However, De Bruyne did come on as a sub for the final 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, ahead of City’s next game vs Huddersfield, De Bruyne would suffer an injury.
The 27-year-old tore a knee ligament on August 15th.

This meant that De Bruyne has missed City’s games against Huddersfield, Wolves and most recently, Newcastle.

De Bruyne to return sooner than expected?

After suffering the initial injury, it was believed that City would be without their star playmaker for around three months.

This was terrible news given what a key member of the squad De Bruyne was for City in their record-breaking 2017/18 season.

De Bruyne played 37 of City’s 38 Premier League games last season, in which he scored eight and assisted an impressive.

The attacking midfielder also played four, scored two and assisted one as Manchester City won the League Cup.

Pep Guardiola sent De Bruyne to his star doctor Ramon Cugat who Pep knows from his time at Barcelona.

After seeing Cugat, De Bruyne has been given the green light to move on to the next stage of his rehabilitation process.

This means that the Belgian could well be set for an earlier than expected return to action.

Ramon Cugat was also the same doctor who treated Benjamin Mendy last season after he suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury.
