Jose Mourinho has made the signing of a centre-back one of his top-most priorities of the summer, linking the Red Devils with a plethora of players including Jerome Boateng, Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire. Nonetheless, it appears that the latter tickles the fancy of the Special One more.
Chelsea had tabled a bid for Alderweireld but his bogus valuation has stood in the way of the deal. And that’s same for Maguire whose valuation stood at £65million. However, it looks as though the resolve of the Foxes to hold onto Maguire has been broken as they are on the brink of signing CB duo.
Filip Benkovic has completed medical to join Leicester City, while Arsenal target Caglar Soyuncu is also on the verge of sealing a move to the side. The move for the aforementioned duo has been inferred as the Foxes bracing themselves for the departure of Maguire.
Maguire is seen as an upgrade to Man United’s Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, and Mourinho has been urged to sign him. The Mirror’s suggestion cannot be taken with a pinch of salt and Leicester City know that they will be unable to keep the 25-year-old star for the long term.
