Not Kante: Chelsea £120,000-a-week star targeted by Ligue 1 giants

The Ligue 1 side Marseille have joined the race to land Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud this transfer market.
According to the British national daily tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror, Marseille are interested in bringing Giroud back to France, with the forward available to leave Chelsea.

The report states that La Liga giants Atletico Madrid will also challenge for Frenchman’s signature, as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
Italiana manager Maurizio Sarri has taken over as the Blues’ head coach this summer and is open to letting Olivier Giroud leave the club.

This comes just seven months after Giroud joined the club from city and league rivals Arsenal for a deal in the region of £18 million.

Giroud netted in the FA Cup semi-final versus Southampton to send his side to the final, which they went on to victory over the Gunners.

The striker also won the World Cup with France this summer, in spite of failing to register a single shot on target in the competition.

The previous season, in all competitions, the 31-year-old Olivier Giroud made 44 appearances, netted 12 goals and provided three assists.
