Champions League winning manager to Manchester United : Will it be a good one for the club?

Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is reportedly interested in managing the Premier League giants Manchester United as L’Equipe has mentioned.

The French legend started his career as a manager in a positive note taking charge of the Spanish giants Real Madrid. He left Los Blancos after guiding his side win the UEFA Champions League for the third consecutive year over Liverpool.

“First for me, the squad, the club I think it’s a bit of a weird moment but an important one that is good for everyone,” Zidane said, “What I think is that this team needs to continue winning but I think it needs a change, a different voice, another methodology and that’s why I took this decision.”

The French outlet mentioned that the ex-Real Madrid manager is keen on having his next managerial career in the Premier League, more specifically at Old Trafford.

“According to our information, more than Italy, the first foreign league of his [Zidane’s] playing career, it’s now England that is taking his interest, particularly Manchester United,” L’Equipe quoted.

Zidane had been speculated to become the sporting director at Juventus at the beginning of the season. He was also linked with a move to taking over a national team job with France. But with the world cup victory, the present manager Didier Deschamps will certainly retain his job.

Jose Mourinho is currently the Manchester United man-in-charge. But his second spell at Old Trafford has been criticized by the majority of the Manchester United fans. There was also a lack of significant transfer activity in the summer. So, the reports are claiming that if the Portuguese manager leaves United, the French legend is on the shortlist to replace him.

Apart from Zinedine Zidane, the Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is also linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Argentine manager has been a long time target for The Red Devils. With a poor transfer window following no single signing for Tottenham, the manager has been criticized in a huge manner. However, he has already signed a contract extension with the London side until 2023.
