Chelsea prepare to make improved offer for winger

Chelsea are prepared to return with an improved offer for Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.

The Blues have made an initial approach for the Ivory Coast international, and it is reported to be in the region of £30 million plus Danny Drinkwater, but the Eagles rejected the offer and are expecting to sell him for at least double that price.

Chelsea see Zaha as a replacement for Willian whose career has been a subject of uncertainty over the past couple of days. The Brazilian reported late to Chelsea’s preseason by claiming to have had passport issues, this is happening in the midst of bids from Real Madrid and Barcelona for his signature.

While Willian has stated that he expected to remain at Stamford Bridge this summer, the FA Cup holders want to prepare for the worst with the signing of Zaha.

The former Manchester United winger could also act as a replacement for Eden Hazard who looks increasingly likely to move to Madrid as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement this summer.

Tottenham are also interested in Zaha and the Lilywhites are said to be preparing a £45 million offer plus £15 million in add-ons, and a major selling on profit share. Zaha has no problems remaining in London and has told Crystal Palace that he wants to leave.
