Steve Nicol reacts to Liverpool FC star’s proposed move to FC Barcelona

Steve Nicol claims that Simon Mignolet's proposed transfer to FC Barcelona would be "perfect"

Steve Nicol has claimed that Simon Mignolet’s proposed transfer to FC Barcelona from Liverpool FC would be “perfect” for the goalkeeper.

The Belgian shot-stopper has been touted as a possible target for the Spanish club in recent days as the Catalan side look to bolster their options between the posts ahead of next season.

Mignolet’s future at Anfield has been cast into doubt after he lost the number one spot to Loris Karius last season, and the Reds then moved to sign Alisson Becker from AS Roma last month.

It remains to be seen whether the Belgian will indeed move to FC Barcelona this summer, but former Reds man Nicol seems to think that it would be a great switch for the shot-stopper.

Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Star, Nicol said: “It depends on what Mignolet wants.
“If he wants, or is happy at 30 years of age, to kind of just be known now as a No.2, then this is perfect.

“It’s perfect for him, and it’s perfect for Barcelona as well. I think there’s a chance that something like this might happen.

“It might not be Barcelona, but I think he goes. So I’m going to say this is a hit.”

Liverpool FC will be looking to be one of the main contenders for the Premier League title next season as they bid to try and win the trophy under Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds are still aiming to win their first piece of silverware for next season as they look to try and go one step further than last term.

They reached the Champions League final and finished in fourth place in the table last term.
