Both Juliano Belletti and Michael Ballack are in the frame for the post, with director Marina Granovskaia taking charge of the search. Michael Emenalo left Stamford Bridge last season and Granovskaia has taken control of incomings and outgoings in the two transfer windows since.
Granovskaia is likely to remain in charge of transfers and contract negotiations, while some of Emenalo’s duties may well be shared among other members of staff.
Chelsea are aware that Manchester United are beginning their search for a similar position and Roma director of football Monchi is on both clubs’ shortlists, according to the Guardian.
Dan Ashworth, technical director at the FA is also in the frame, while 2009/10 title winners Belletti and Ballack have been mentioned by the Chelsea board.
