Former EPL rivals midfielder advised Liverpool boss to land £54m-rated star

Robert Pires has urged Jurgen Klopp’s side, Liverpool, to revive their interest in France international star Nabil Fekir prior to the transfer window closes next week.
Jurgen Klopp was close to sealing a deal for Fekir earlier in the summer transfer market and the midfielder even underwent a medical with the Reds.

But the proposed £53 million move to Merseyside fell through after the Reds became concerned by a historic injury and asked the French club Lyon to reduce the fee.
Liverpool have enjoyed a successful transfer window, signing Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker, and Klopp has said his side’s spending may be over for the summer.

But France and Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes Liverpool should reignite their interest in Fekir and try to sign a last-ditch deal for the talented midfielder.

‘Fekir would be a good fit for the Premier League and a great signing for Liverpool,’ Pires told bwin.

‘I don’t know why the deal broke down at the medical earlier this summer, but Fekir is a great player and would be a good signing for Liverpool.’
