Liverpool still interested in signing Serie A £22.5m-rated midfielder

Liverpool remain interested in a possible deal to sign Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to Gazzetta dello Sport journalsit Francesco Velluzzi.
The Reds have been connected with a swoop for the promising Italian star, and their interest has been reaffirmed by Francesco, who states that they are among five clubs that are looking at Barella.

Anfield side are well-stocked with midfield variants but have been linked with a swoop for Barella for many months now, showing that their interest in landing the player may be genuine.
As cited by the Express, Velluzzi discussed Italian club’s summer dealings with RMC Sport recently, and Nicolo was a topic of conversation, as the journalist revealed the degree of interest in the Italy U21 international.

The Reds aren’t the only team in the hunt for Barella, it seems, and stiff rivalry could come from Lyon and AS Roma in the near future.

“Inter currently does not have an urgent need to try to buy Barella, unless they sell [Matias] Vecino. There is also Roma at stake, there are also Lyon, Liverpool and perhaps Atletico Madrid.”

Liverpool aren’t likely to make one more summer signing as a result of their successful pursuit of
Roma goalkeeper Alisson, but Nicolo continues to be connected with a switch to Anfield.
