Liverpool weigh up last-gasp offer for in-demand Serie A prodigy

Liverpool are planning a late bid to sign the Serie A outfit Cagliari defensive midfielder Nicolo Barella who is on coach Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Reds have splashed the cash thus far this summer bringing in Fabinho, Naby Keita, Alisson, Xherdan Shaqiri but reports from Italy state Liverpool are not finished in the transfer market just yet.

Gazzetta dello Sport state that Klopp is a long-term admirer of the Italian midfielder and has been following his development recently amid suggestions that the Italian club may be prepared to cash in on him.
“[Cagliari] has understood that it may be the right year to sell him,” Gazzetta dello Sport’s journalist Francesco Velluzzi told RMC Sport.

“He was very professional, even if he has not opened his mouth so far, it means that he wants to understand how the situation will be defined.

“Inter [Milan] currently does not have an urgent need to try to buy Barella, unless they sell [Matias] Vecino. There is also Roma at stake, there are also Lyon, Liverpool and perhaps Atletico Madrid.”
