Man United could miss out on Real Madrid star as UCL giants step up interest

Chelsea have approached La Liga giants Real Madrid to ask for information about the possibility of signing Croatia international midfielder and Manchester United target Mateo Kovacic, according to reports.
The Blues, who replaced Antonio Conte with his compatriot Maurizio Sarri earlier in the month, have only purchased two players so far this summer, Jorginho and Rob Green.

One-time Napoli boss Sarri is desperate for his new club to splash the clash on a host of new additions before the transfer window closes next Thursday.
Sarri hopes to see at least a central defender and a midfielder arrive through the doors at Stamford Bridge, although the Blues will need to act fast if the likes of Willian and Thibaut Courtois leave.

Chelsea have registered interest in signing Aaron Ramsey from league rivals Arsenal but the Daily Mail say the club may now wait until next summer when they could secure his services on a free transfer.

In the meantime, they have reportedly asked Los Blancos about a possible deal for Mateo, who has made it clear he wants to depart from the La Liga giants as the Red Devils and the Blues remain on the radar.
