Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea FC v Arsenal

Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to secure three points against Arsenal in Maurizio Sarri’s first game at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues endured a difficult summer following a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League table under Antonio Conte last term.

Chelsea FC have appointed Sarri as Conte’s replacement and the Italian head coach recruited Napoli star Jorginho, Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic, England veteran goalkeeper Rob Green and Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa.

The west London side were 3-0 winners against Huddersfield Town at John Smith’s Stadium last weekend after goals from Jorginho, Hazard and Pedro Rodriguez.

Arsenal, on the other hand, suffered a 2-0 loss to defending Premier League champions Manchester City to make a losing start to Unai Emery’s reign as manager.

The Gunners signed five players in the summer transfer window after the north London side could only muster a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League table last term.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Chelsea FC to ease to a narrow victory over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

“A good professional performance from Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea at Huddersfield on the opening day although it was difficult to get too excited about Arsenal who were easily brushed aside – as Chelsea were in the Community Shield a week earlier – by champions Manchester City at the Emirates,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Unai Emery would have hoped for an easier introduction to life in the Premier League than City at home and Chelsea away, and they will take heart from the fact that Chelsea failed to beat Arsenal in five games (Community Shield, Premier League x 2 & League Cup x 2) last season.

“That said I expect Chelsea to build on their convincing win in Yorkshire and keep the points in Sarri’s first home game in charge of the Blues.”

Chelsea FC won the FA Cup final at Wembley last term thanks to the west London side’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the showpiece.
