Off to Old Trafford?- Manchester United agree terms for fourth summer signing

Manchester United are closing in on announcing a late deal for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.

United have an agreement in place with Tottenham for the signing of Toby Alderweireld, but Spurs have refused to complete the deal until they have brought in a replacement for the Belgium international.

Spurs had wanted £75m for the Belgium international, but United offered just £50m in May. It had seemed there would be no deal but now it seems £60m could be enough to get the deal to go through, especially as Alderweireld can leave for £25m next season.

United have supposedly, through intermediaries, been working on a deal to bring the Belgium international to Old Trafford.

Bleacher Report say Jose Mourinho views Maguire as a gamble and would relish having Alderweireld in his backline.

The Portuguese coach recently had a dig at the club, claiming that he didn’t get the signings he wanted ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

One are of need for the Red Devils is centre-back, where the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly have struggled, as has recent signing Victor Lindelof.
