Fulham look set to finalise the signing of Arsenal central defender
Calum Chambers on a season-long loan deal, according to a report from
the British daily middle-market tabloid newspaper The Daily Mail.
The all-around defender put pen to paper on a fresh long-term
contract at the Emirates Stadium at the start of July but looks set for
yet one more loan spell away from the club.
Calum Chambers, who is now contracted to Gunners until June of 2022,
is said to have a medical booked in on Monday with the EPL rivals as he
closes in on a switch to Craven Cottage.
The England international star is capable of playing at centre-back,
right-back and in holding midfield and is certain to add depth in a
range of roles for Serbian manager Slavisa Jokanovic’s side.
As a
result of the arrivals of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from the Bundesliga
giants, Borussia Dortmund and Stephan Lichtsteiner from the Italian side
Juventus, Calum’s first-team opportunities heading into next campaign
appear to be limited, and this has seemingly prompted Gunners to let the
player leave on loan.
