Chelsea start negotiations with European giants for South American midfielder

Chelsea are believed to have started talks with Serie A giants Inter Milan over a deal to sign central midfielder Matias Vecino over the weekend, according to the reports in the English media.
Free daily newspaper The London Evening Standard reports that official negotiations were believed to have started over the weekend when both sides were in Nice for a pre-season friendly.

The two clubs played out a 1-1 draw, but plenty of working was going on behind the scenes.

Matias Vecino, who is valued at around £31 million, has been heavily connected with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer transfer market.

He is a player that Italian manager Maurizio Sarri knows very well having worked together at the Italian side Empoli.

The report states that Sarri wants to bring in the Inter Milan star to help influence his style of play on the rest of the senior-team squad at a faster rate.

One-time Napoli midfielder and now Chelsea key man Jorginho has already been signed from Sarri’s former side, and the Italian star is due to play a key role in Maurizio Sarri’s side.
