The Premier League giants Liverpool have reportedly opened
negotiations with their key man Sadio Mane over a new contract at
Anfield, according to reports in the British press.
The 26-year-old star has emerged as one of Jurgen Klopp’s important
players since his £34 million move from the Premier League side
Southampton back in June 2016 (The winger became fifth Southampton
player to move to Anfield, Virgil van Dijk became sixth).
Sadio Mane scored 20 goals for the Reds the previous season,
including a hat-trick against Liga NOS giants FC Porto in the Champions
League.
According to the national British daily broadsheet newspaper
The Telegraph,
Mane is being rewarded for his displays and progress with a lucrative
extension, even though Senegal international is not actively seeking a
pay rise.
The report also states that Liverpool are confident that
Sadio Mane will join fellow star attackers Mohamed Salah and Roberto
Firmino by dedicating his long-term future to the club.
The 26-year-old Sadio Mane has three years remaining on his current Liverpool contract.
The last season, in all competitions (Premier League, Champions
League, Champions League Qualifying, FA Cup), Senegalese star made 44
appearances, netted 20 goals and provided 9 assists.
