Aaron Ramsey unsure over Arsenal future

Arsenal midfielder has told Sky Sports that he is unsure about his future with the north London club and stated his agent is still in discussions with the Gunners over a deal.

Asked about talks over a Ramsey told Sky Sports: “We’ll see what happens, but my agent and the club are talking,”

“I’m not sure exactly what it hinges on, I’m just leaving it to them to discuss and to figure it out but we are yet to come to an agreement.

“That’s something that my agent and the club are discussing to try and get something done.”

Enjoyed a decent campaign

Aaron Ramsey has endured mixed fortunes during his time in north London. Last season the Wales international enjoyed a decent campaign, scoring seven goals and producing eight assists in 24 Premier League appearances.

On numbers alone, it was the midfielder’s second-best campaign in an Arsenal shirt. Ramsey still endured injury problems, so an injury-free campaign could have yielded even better results for the midfielder.

Unfortunately, that has been the story of Ramsey’s Gunners career, injuries have interrupted good runs of form, or he has just struggled for consistency.

Unai Emery is a fan

New Arsenal boss Unai Emery is reportedly a big fan of Ramsey. The Spaniard has stated in the past that he wants the midfielder to sign a new deal and that he is part of his first-team plans for the future.
Despite Emery’s supposed liking of Ramsey, the 27-year-old could have a job getting into the starting line-up in central midfield after the arrival of Uruguayan international Lucas Torreira.

The consensus is that Torreira and Granit Xhaka will start as a central midfield pair. That means maybe Ramsey would be pushed into a more attacking role as a number ten or out wide. This may actually suit his game.

Ramsey is replaceable

Aaron Ramsey is reportedly asking for close to £250,000 per week, which is a lot of money for a player who is not considered a star player within a team. Yes, Ramsey is a decent player, but he is not indispensable.

The midfielder is in the last year of his contract, so he is a position of power with regards to his deal. If the Gunners were to sell the midfielder, he may be a slight loss, but it would not be the end of the world if the reports of his demands are accurate.
