Second summer signing: Chelsea to beat Man United to £50m wiz-AM

Chelsea have opened talks with Bayern Munich over a potential deal for Spanish wiz-midfielder Thiago Alcantara, this is according to reports.

The Blues are yet to sign another player after the capture of Jorginho from Napoli but Maurizio Sarri will not rest on his onus unless he bolsters the squad of the Blues.

Sarri is looking to establish a football style that hinges of ball retention and entertainment. Jorginho will help him execute this style but he needs other creative midfielders and he has set his sight on a deal for Alcantara.

Alcantara rose through the ranks of Barcelona but he was on the radar of Manchester United in the summer of 2013 but Pep Guardiola pipped the Red Devils to his signing at that time.
Bayern Munich have appointed Niko Kovac as their manager and it is widely claimed that he would trim the team of the Bavarians and sign the types of players that would fit in his style. Bayern Munich currently have up to nine midfielders in their squad and Kovac would not blink an eye to sell Alcantara.

Manchester City have had the player on their radar but according to ESPN, Chelsea and Manchester United have entered the race to sign the mesmeric midfielder. Nonetheless, the Blues are thought to be in pole position given the style of Sarri.

The 27-year-old midfielder would cost around £50m and despite his injury record, Chelsea and Man United are in the running for his signature. However, Barcelona have also been linked with a move for the star but we wait to see how all of these pans out.
