Gunners legend wants Arsenal to land Serie A £58.5m-rated midfielder

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour feels Serie A giants Juventus star Giorgio Chiellini would be the ideal signing to cap the club’s summer transfer business this term, as reported by Goal.

Parlour recently talked about where the Gunners still require to improve in the transfer window and pinpointed Chiellini as the man to remedy their defensive problems.

“The club needs an old-school leader who will put their body on the line and demand the best from his team-mates. Chiellini would be the dream defender, though he’s getting on a bit.” – said Ray Parlour

The Gunners have already strengthened their defensive options this summer through the acquisition of Greek star Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund, but Ray feels added defensive muscle is a necessity.

Chiellini is a stable international for the Italian national side and remains a central component under Massimiliano Allegri at the Old Lady. This, of course, indicates that any move away from Serie A would be a surprise for Giorgio.

The last season, in all competitions (Serie A, Champions League, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa TIM), Giorgio Chiellini made 38 appearances and provided 2 assists.
