Mourinho: Darmian wants to leave

Following Manchester United’s win over AC Milan on penalties, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Matteo Darmian wants to leave the club.

The right-back made just eight appearances in the league last season, so Mourinho claims as soon as they receive a suitable offer for him the player will be allowed to leave.
Matteo wants to leave and I think when a player wants to leave, if the right offer arrives you have to try to be human and let the player follow his instinct but not at any price. And, until now, the offers we got for Matteo are not even close to being accepted.
Given we know that Darmian is set to leave the club, it was strange that the Italian wore the captain’s armband last night. However, Darmian is a product of Milan’s youth team, joining the club when he was just 11 and making his debut when he was 16, so Mourinho felt it was a nice touch to let him wear the armband.
The captaincy? Because he is a fantastic guy in my two years and with Mr Van Gaal before me. He is the kind of guy who is always ready to give what he has, he grew up in AC Milan and to play against his child club and be captain in a friendly has a nice meaning.
