As reported by Os Donos da Bola,
the Premier League giants are looking to step up their interest in the
Brazilian midfielder, with several teams said to be keeping tabs on him.
Paqueta is said to have a huge €50
million release clause slapped in his current contract with the club,
but his side are looking to increase this release clause as they bid to
keep him at the club.
Paqueta is a product of Brazilian youth set up and can be deployed in the number 10 role on to play on the left-wing.
Chelsea’s move for the midfielder comes
as a surprise in a week they have been linked with Russian midfielder
Aleksandr Golovin and already have Jorginho at the club.
There’s seriousness in signing Paqueta
remains to be seen and whether the reported €45 million really bears
fruit. But no matter, the Brazilian would be a strong acquisition for
their first-team squad or someone who is sent out on loan.
In other news, Chelsea are reportedly
closing in on the signing of Juventus’ and Italian defender Daniele
Rugani in a £44.2million ($57,506,944.00)deal that is likely to be
announced before end of this week.
