Alisson Becker is undergoing his medical with Liverpool this morning after agreeing personal terms ahead of his £66.8m move from AS Roma, according to various reports today.
After weeks of speculation, Liverpool finally made their move for the Brazilian international and the Liverpool Echo claim a £66.8m deal was agreed with Roma on Wednesday – which smashes the previous world record for a goalkeeper.
Alisson was spotted leaving Ciampino Airport last night after cutting short his holiday in Sardinia and confirmed his exit from Roma after thanking the fans and admitting it was time for him to enjoy a ‘new adventure’.
The 25-year-old is quoted as saying by the Echo “I want to say thanks to Roma fans. Now it’s time for a new adventure” and the newspaper says Alisson has already agreed personal terms over a long-term contract.
Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is now reporting that Alisson is undergoing his medical on Thursday morning and once those tests are complete he will then travel to Melwood to sign his contract.
As long as there are no late complications, it seems Alisson should complete his move to Liverpool either later today or possibly tomorrow and Klopp will finally have resolved what has been a problem area in his team.
Alisson was one of the best keepers in Europe last season and will be a huge upgrade on Karius and Simon Mignolet so Liverpool fans are understandably delighted by the clubs latest piece of transfer business.
The South American is unlikely to be part of Liverpool’s pre-season tour of American as he’s still on ‘holiday’ following his exploits at the World Cup but he should link-up with his new team-mates in early August ahead of the new campaign.
