Antonio Conte SACKED: Chelsea bin manager, Maurizio Sarri to be named replacement

ANTONIO CONTE has been SACKED as Chelsea manager.
Conte has been on the brink for months.

And it looks like Chelsea have now finally pulled the trigger.

The Sun report the Italian has been given the axe this afternoon, with countryman Maurizio Sarri set to replace him.

Conte was reportedly hauled into a meeting at the club's training ground and given the news.
The ex-Juventus man has started taking pre-season training at Chelsea's Cobham HQ but it appears Sarri will take over in the run-up to the new season.

Chelsea's senior team were given the afternoon off while Conte learned his fate.
He's been a hit at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League and FA Cup during his two years in charge.

But that's not been enough for him to keep his job with rows with senior figures over transfers and last season's fifth-place finish in the Premier League counting against him
Sarri is the man Chelsea have chosen to replace Conte.

He's impressed at Napoli and will now get a shot at getting the Blues back up the top of the table and into the Champions League.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis claimed yesterday that Sarri was close to being appointed by the Blues.

“The Sarri deal is in the homestretch, it depends on him,” he said.

“I’ve laid down my conditions. It’s all in the hands of lawyers."

Italy midfielder Jorginho is expected to follow Sarri from Napoli to Chelsea.

He looked set to sign for champions Manchester City but a switch to Stamford Bridge is now set to be confirmed.
