Arsenal officially told they can sign World Cup winner N’Zonzi for £35 million this summer

Arsenal will have to meet the £35 million release clause of Steven N’Zonzi if they wish to complete a summer deal, according to the Spanish club’s director of football Joaquin Caparros.

It is no secret Gunners boss Unai Emery is a big fan of the Frenchman, who has just landed the World Cup with France, and is reportedly eager to bring him to the Premier League, as the final piece of his puzzle.

Reports in the media over the last few weeks have even claimed Arsenal have held initial talks with Sevilla over a deal for former Blackburn player, but it is likely the Gunners would need to sell before financing the move.

Caparros told Cadena Ser: “Steven has two years remaining on his contract. We have texted each other during the World Cup and I have congratulated him on his achievements with France, of course.
“We have not received any offers for him and I will say the same to any clubs who may be interested as what we said with Lenglet – he has a buyout clause, and it’s £35m.”

There has been some speculation that the Gunners may be tempted to sell star man Aaron Ramsey, with the Welshman failing to agree a new contract, he is free to leave at the end of next season for nothing.

So Emery may feel that he should sell this summer and use the funds for N’Zonzi, as he could be the perfect replacement.
