Perisic has been a target for the Old Trafford side since last summer and Mourinho is keen on the player this summer. Perisic had an impressive World Cup, scoring three goals and helping Croatia to reach their first ever World Cup final.
Italian sport outlet Tuttosport says that United have contacted Perisic’s representatives over a transfer of the 29-year-old this summer. Perisic’s agent Fali Ramadani is set to meet Inter Milan officials this week over a deal for the athletic winger.
Inter Milan are open to selling the player but have placed a £53 million price tag on the Croatian on the back of his outstanding performance in the world cup. However United want to offer a player cash deal of Inter Milan target Matteo Darmian plus a reduced fee. However, Inter Milan have revealed to United that they would only sell if the £54 million Valuation is met.
Mourinho was reported to have told close sources of his frustration in his inability to get the 29-year-old player from Inter Milan.
“Perisic, he went from Croatia to Dortmund, goes to Wolfsburg, goes to Inter,”. “I do not know why he did not come to Manchester United when I wanted him.”
Perisic had an impressive season with Inter Milan scoring 11 goals in the league helping the club secure a Champions League place.
