Arsenal and Manchester United have joined the race to sign
Croatia international forward Ante Rebic, who could leave Eintracht
Frankfurt.
Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic claimed that they are yet to
field an offer for Croatia striker, however, admitted they will struggle
to hold on to the 24-year-old if any club make a big-money offer.
German publication
Bild last month reported that
Tottenham Hotspur were keen to take the player to north London club and
that his Bundesliga team were ready to sell him around £26.3m.
Now the same reports suggested that Man Utd and Arsenal are circling
the player who has impressed at World-Cup tournament in Russia as his
side reached the finals for the first time in their history.
Although Croatian forward has three years on his current deal with Frankfurt, Bobic is well aware their star man could leave.
“I am very happy about the success of Ante Rebic with the Croatian national team,” Bobic told
Sport1. “The
players and the coaching team are watching the World Cup games together
in the training camp in the USA and, of course, are especially excited
about Ante.
“So far, there are no offers available and we’re planning a steady season with Ante Rebic for the new season.
“Of course we know that a lot can happen when a big club makes an offer.
“We cannot compete economically with the big ones, but that’s nothing new.”
