Club president confirm Liverpool move for World Cup winner in days

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas have confirmed Liverpool could still sign Frenchman Nabil Fekir.
The report claims Fekir has agreed with Lyon owner that talks with Liverpool will be reopened.

Aulas and Fekir reportedly met twice during the World Cup, including after the semi-final win against Belgium.

Fekir and his advisor Jean-Pierre Bernes then sat down with Aulas to discuss the failed switch to Liverpool.

The move initially fell apart due to issues surrounding medical details after a £53million deal was agreed. Liverpool need the terms to change for them to return to the negotiating table.

Liverpool would be willing to pay the fee over the full length of his contract, which would be five years long. They have also agreed on wages of around £120,000-per-week.

Fekir’s representatives have told Aulas they want the move after being made aware of Liverpool’s position.

Aulas is a tough negotiator but has shifted his stance on Fekir’s future. He is now just trying to receive as much of the £53m as possible from Liverpool as the 21-year-old chases his dream move.

“It seems to me that Liverpool could come back in,” he said in an interview with Le 10 Sport.
“That’s what I’ve read in the press, but I’ve not been told anything.

“His transfer failed in June, but he hasn’t been affected by it. He is focused on the World Cup, and he still has his heart in Lyon.

“Nabil is much closer to Lyon today than he was when we talked to Liverpool.

“Maybe he will go to Liverpool, or another club, but if he stays at Lyon, it will be a great year for him and for us.”
