Saint-Germain to sign Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, according to Sunday Times reporter Duncan Castles.
The Red Devils are thought to be keen to improve their left-back
options ahead of the new Premier League season but Manchester United
have only signed Portuguese right-back Diogo Dalot so far.
England international Luke Shaw has failed to convince Jose Mourinho during manager’s two-year spell in charge of the 20-time English champions.
Indeed, Mourinho hasn’t been afraid to criticise Shaw in the English media to fuel speculation that Manchester United are ready to cut their losses with the England star.
Netherlands international Daley Blind has returned to Eredivisie side Ajax, while Mateo Darmian has been linked with a return to Serie A.
Sandro has been regularly linked with a move to Manchester United over the past 12 months but the Red Devils have struggled to get a deal over the line.
Sunday Times reporter Castles believes Manchester United are in a tough battle to sign Sandro with Ligue 1 giants PSG.
“Juve don’t actively want to sell the player but they see the price is high so they can cash in on a big way,” Castles told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“Man United have agreed terms with Sandro because he isn’t paid particularly well. PSG are also interested. They are desperate to sign a left-back. They have two suitors.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC and Arsenal.
