European giants reportedly interested in singing Liverpool goalkeeper

Barcelona have been connected with a shock move for Liverpool shot-stopper Simon Mignolet, according to the Spanish national daily sport newspaper Marca.
The Belgian arrived at the Reds ahead of the 2013-14, and a turbulent stay at Liverpool has seen him replaced by Loris Karius in the latest seasons.

With Loris’ own replacement by new £62 million singing Alisson Becker, it seems Simon is truly set to depart from the Reds this summer.
Despite potential destinations being hushed, a surprising rumour has now linked the 30-year-old star with a switch to the Spanish giants.

The Catalan-outfit are set to lose Dutch ‘keeper Jasper Cillessen in the transfer market and need to find a deputy to Germany international Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

On a list of targets, Simon is included alongside other options his compatriot Kevin Casteels of Wolfsburg, Real Sociedad’s Argentine star Geronimo Rulli, Yann Sommer from the Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Cillessen’s replacement will take over the gloves in a backup capacity at Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona, but with such a saturation of shot-stoppers, it seems unlikely that the Reds could command a large fee for Belgium international.
