Liverpool identified £35m-rated Italy international star as their top transfer target this summer

Liverpool have reportedly joined the race for Italy international centre-back Daniele Rugani.

According to the reports from Italy Chelsea where favourites to secure the services of 23-year-old centre-back after the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as Antonio Conte’s successor, however, now their direct Premier League rivals Liverpool have joined the race for his signature.

Chelsa have finalised first summer signing Jorginho from Napoli in a deal believed to be worth up to £57m.
The 26-year-old has joined the club on a five-year deal to reunite with Italian manager in the English capital, despite the player being subject of Man City move.

Liverpool meanwhile have signed Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, Fabinho from AS Monaco and Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri.
Now Jurgen Klopp plans to strengthen the Reds defensive end ahead of the next season and sign a quality replacement for Larius Karius.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United skipper Jamal Lascelles will be staying put at St James Park this summer unless they receive an ‘astronomical’ offer for their star player, according to the well-sourced Chronicle Live.

The Magpies skipper has emerged as shock transfer target for Liverpool and Chelsea as both Premier League teams are keen on to secure his services in order to strengthen their defensive end.
