Done deal- terms and agreement reached as star all smiles as he signs Liverpool deal

Liverpool have officially announced they have rewarded 20-year-old Nigerian strike Taiwo Awonyi with a long term contract after an impressive performance in the 2017-18 season.

Awoniyi committed his long-term future to Liverpool after agreeing on a new deal with the English Premier League outfit on Tuesday.

The Nigerian striker finished the season as the club’s most potent forward, just behind the Fab three, and the Reds have a plan for him.

The 2013 U17 World Cup star was signed by the Reds from Imperial Soccer Academy in 2015.
Unable to secure a work permit, he was shipped on loan to German second division outfit, FSV Frankfurt and then NEC Nijmegen in the Netherlands.

The loan spells ended in disappointments as both teams suffered relegations, however, there has been renewed hopes after his progress at Royal Excel Mouscron last season.

The Nigeria U23 international joined the Belgian outfit in a season-long loan deal – his third spell away from Anfield, and flourished.

The 20-year-old scored 10 times – including two goals to help Mouscron qualify for Europa League play-off spot – and laid on seven others in 31 games across all competitions.

Speaking with club website, the former U17 World Cup winner said: “I feel excited and I feel very happy.

“It has been three years since I first came to Liverpool. So far, so good. The last year was the best for me, it has been an amazing year so far.

“I just have to keep working hard each year and I believe one day the dream will come true.

“Thanks to my family, who have been so supportive. I’m very glad and excited about this contract and hopefully to have an even better year.”
