Mourinho: Leicester have advantage but we are going to fight for points

Manchester United face Leicester in just over two weeks in the first fixture of the new Premier League season. We will play on the Friday evening and Jose Mourinho, who is still without many key players thanks to their country’s progression to the latter stages of the World Cup, is not best pleased.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s pre-season game against Milan, Mourinho has compared our situation to that of Leicester, who only had two players progressing far in to the competition. Harry Maguire, who has been linked with a move to United, and Jamie Vardy, who barely played.
That said, Mourinho insists that despite this United will be fighting for the points.

If you look at the players at Chelsea and Liverpool in pre-season, also Arsenal, I think if you compare you see the difference of the situation. City and Tottenham are in a similar situation as we are.
When I look to Leicester, only Maguire and Vardy were in the World Cup final phase, I think a team that is working for six weeks minimum, that is clearly a much better situation for them. We have to fight for the points, that’s what we are going to do with the players we have available.
