Signing Alex Sandro has to be Manchester United’s priority this summer

According to Inside Futbol, reporting via Corriere di Torino, PSG are close to signing long-term Manchester United target, Alex Sandro, from Juventus.

The Turin-based left-back is not a player that Jose Mourinho can afford to let slip through his fingers this summer.

Manchester United’s defensive contingent is uninspiring at best, and his left-back options leave much to be desired.

As talented as Axel Tuanzebe and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson may be, they’re both surely too young and inexperienced to be expected to make an impact this season. Which leaves only the ageing Ashley Young, coming off the back of a long World Cup run, and the out of favour Luke Shaw, as left-back options at the Red Devils’ disposal.

Signing Alex Sandro this summer is vital to restoring balance to the back line at Old Trafford.
Sandro joined Juventus from Porto in the summer of 2015, and the Brazilian has been a regular in the Old Lady first team since then.

Sandro’s versatility is what makes him such a perfect replacement for Ashley Young. The 27-year-old can play anywhere along the left flank, and is as effective in an attacking sense as he is reliable when in defensive mode.

Sandro is a tough tackler, who reads the game well and is assured in his positioning. He also boasts the pace and stamina to allow him to travel up and down the wing, making a contribution to the cause, from the first whistle to the last.

Transfermarkt value the Juventus man at £40.5 million, but Mourinho should make sure he gets his man this summer no matter the cost.
