TIME TO BUY Roma to give Chelsea two days to outbid Liverpool for Alisson as they attempt to drive up £62million price

Jurgen Klopp has tabled world record bid for Brazilian keeper and Roma ready to sanction Anfield switch if Blues fail to make formal bid this week

ROMA are set to give Chelsea two days to make a bid before they sanction Alisson's world record move to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp tabled a £62million bid for the Brazilian yesterday - a deal which would see him become the most expensive goalkeeper in history.

But Roma are aware Chelsea are eyeing the 25-year-old as a potential replacement for Thibaut Courtois and believe they can get an auction going for his services.

Italian paper Il Messagero say the Serie A club's sporting director Monchi wants to see a further five million euros added to the price, which would equate to £66m.

And he is prepared to give Chelsea 48 hours to come up with the money to outbid Liverpool for his services.

If Maurizio Sarri has failed to make a formal offer by then, they claim Roma would be willing to sanction his move to Anfield.

The club are in a strong position as sellers in the knowledge both Liverpool and Chelsea are in desperate need of a top class keeper.

And that could see them squeeze an extra £4m out of the deal than the one the Reds tabled yesterday.
Klopp believes the Brazil number one is the ideal man to make his first choice at Anfield to finally solve the position that has been causing him problems since he took charge.

After two years switching between Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, he has accepted neither are up the to standard needed if Liverpool are to seriously challenge for the Premier League.

But Chelsea's need is just as great, with Belgian Courtois likely to be heading to Real Madrid this summer to avoid him running out the remaining year on his contract.

They are understood to be willing to sanction the sale of Courtois for around £35m once they have found a suitable replacement and Alisson is their clear first choice.

Yet Liverpool may have the edge in the fight for his signature if both clubs have bids accepted because they can offer Champions League football this season.

The prospect of Chelsea losing star player Eden Hazard this summer and uncertainty over the strength of their squad is also something that is seen as a concern compared to Liverpool's settled plans.
