Arsenal holding talks over deal to sign £27M midfielder, player wants move

Arsenal have kick-started pre-seasons preparation with several of the first team players arriving for training, however, there could still be new faces at the club this summer.

Emery has signed five players already but has been linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes. French sports outlet RAC1 recently reported that Arsenal and Barcelona have been negotiating over a transfer fee for the 23-year-old midfielder.

It is believed that Barcelona are holding out for a fee of £27 million for the Portuguese international who signed from Valencia two seasons ago. Arsenal are confident of matching the fee and want to secure the transfer before the club returns from the pre-season tour of Malaysia.

Sources close to the player claim that Andre Gomes is open to moving to the Emirates stadium after he was convinced by Gunners chiefs Sven Mislintat about his role in the team.
Emery wants to add more creativity to the midfield and Gomes showed during his Valencia days that he can bring creativity if given time to thrive.

This transfer is one to watch out for because all indications suggest that Gomes is leaving Camp Nou this summer as he was left out of the Barcelona pre-season squad this week.
