United make decision on contract of $87,000-a-week star

Manchester United are planning to trigger the one-year extension on Anthony Martial’s contract if the Frenchman continues to agitate for a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

The former AS Monaco star has been replaced in the Red Devils’ starting lineup since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez last winter, but the club maintains that he is a part of their plans heading into the future.

Martial – an $87,000-a-week star – wants out of the club following his failure to secure both first team action and a new contract, with improved terms.

His agent hinted in June that he was done with the club and wanted a move away as Tottenham reportedly remain interested.

But Manchester Evening News claims that the FA Cup finalists are not ready to sell, and if they still continue to struggle to offer him a new deal, they would trigger the one year extension he agreed upon when he signed for them in 2015.
